Tattoo Removal Treatments

 During your session, a special LASER applicator will deliver laser energy into the ink particles of the unwanted tattoo, or similarly,  the darker pigments on the skin. 

The heat from laser breaks these Tattoo or pigmentation particles into even smaller particles that the body can naturally eliminate. This is a gradual process, and each time you have a treatment, the particle size is reduced even further, making it easier and easier for your body to absorb and remove. 

This means patience and multiple sessions are required to achieve the desired outcome. Tattoos on certain areas of the body, older tattoos and those that have older or lighter ink can be more difficult to treat.

No downtime is required following laser tattoo removal but you will need to keep the area clean and protected from harmful UV rays 

 For the removal of black pigmented tattoos, we use specific Pico-Second lasers, which are  the gold standard LASERS for Tattoo removal.

Pico-Second LASERS are more than twice as effective (meaning that less than half the number of treatments are required) and are also several times more effective in the removal of multi-colored tattoos, compared to other types of lasers.

There are also less unwanted side effects with this type of laser.

Your laser removal treatment will likely feel very similar to your original tattoo inking.

As you probably know, different parts of the body have different pain receptors - so some areas are more sensitive than others.

We suggest you buy some numbing cream from the chemist (Emla or Numbskin) if you wish to minimise any possible discomfort throughout the treatment.

This takes about 30 minutes to take effect.

 Your skin will also feel tender after your appointment but not to the point that pain medication is required.

Tattoo removal on the feet areas are more likely to become infected due to the wearing of socks, sweating and their general dirty nature. You will need to be very vigilant with these areas to promote proper healing.

 The location of the tattoo on your body does influence how quickly it can be removed. Tattoos on hands or fingers take a very long time to remove because they are far away from the heart. The closer to the heart a tattoo is, the faster it can be broken down by the laser and reabsorbed.

 Treating an average-sized tattoo, up to a 3cm x 3cm area, typically takes just a few minutes. 

Treatments can be longer depending on the size of the tattoo being treated. 

Treating multiple tattoos will also take longer. 

There is a 4-6 week period between each Tattoo removal treatment, as the body needs time to reabsorb the tattoo particles between each LASER session.

So, it could easily take several months to remove your tattoo, depending on how many treatments you need.

 The cost of laser tattoo removal will be different for everyone. 

Of course, It all depends on the size and number of tattoos you wish to have removed, as well as the type & colour of ink used and how old it is. These all have a factor in how difficult it will be to remove.

The type of ink, the ink colour, the technique used (professional or home job), how solid it is and if there are layers of tattoos (cover-ups) all play a part in deciding how successful your removal process will be.

Aged tattoos and any body art that’s present on very thin or thick skin can be more difficult to remove. 

 Black ink on light-skinned people, for example, is the easiest to remove, while fluorescent colors - green and purple in particular - are very difficult to erase. 

 Smaller tattoos are also easier to remove, as are older tattoos, because the ink is easier to break down.  

In some instances, a very light shadow residual of the former tattoo may be left  but this will also fade gradually over the years.
